India & Russia

If you check my sister Connie's blog, you'd have read that the Church is having Visa problems with missionaries and long story short for now they are no longer having N. American missionaries sent to Russia. It is a huge loss and my sister is torn. (She served in Russia) The missionaries who are already there will stay and finish up.

I have been meaning to blog this bit of info though for the last few days: India has contacted the Church and told them that they are ready for missionaries to come into the country to teach. Sadly, we had to answer back with a No, we can't do it at this time for two reasons...first off we don't have the money, but secondly because we don't have the missionaries. India's population is around 1 billion people. We just don't have the man power I guess but wouldn't you think any missionaries over there is better than none, even if we can't spread throughout the entire country or whatever...about the money issue, that is a real problem because they feel like so many over there are ready and would be accepting that there would need to be so many stake centers and church buildings built...and Temples. Trust me, just living in Arizona I know, ...if there's too many members for buildings, it's not fun. You end up with huge wards of 1000 people, odd church hours like 3 in the afternoon and 8 AM. It's not really condusive to go to church every week feeling lost or like you are at Stake Conference...

Interesting news though...I hope we can get back into Russia soon, and that we can begin in India, especially since we've been invited now.

Hey Lexie, I remember you and the other basketball girls all cramming in my little blue car with Chad and fighting over who got to help drive. I also remember the days of practice and you girls teasing Chad about getting baptized. I'm so happy all of you were in mine and Chad's life because you were a part of him getting baptized. He's now serving in the branch presidency and still talks about the girls he coached in basketball and how they told him he had to get baptized so you all could play in heaven. He looks up to you more then you will ever know.
