Phoenix' 2 Year Old Wellness Appointment

This morning we took Phoenix to his 2 year old wellness appointment. The office changed locations and is brand new. It's really nice. Phoenix had to have one shot and was so distracted by something that he didn't cry at all. It was good for Marcelus to see that. He had been so concerned for Phoenix and kept asking if he were getting shots. Phoenix doesn't have to go back to the doctor for a whole year when he turns 3, except for a winter flu shot. The doctor was a little concerned about his speech after we said he only spoke probably 10-20 words but I'm not concerned at all. They are always pretty uptight with that and Marce wasn't any better and now talks really well and a lot! Phoenix understands everything we say and follows commands and that's the important thing to me right now. We do have to try and get him to eat more which means limiting his milk in take. I have a whole year to work on that though and they are definitely not concerned with his size or weight. Here are his stats.

Head: 70%
Weight: 77%
Height: 97%

By the way, Phoenix weighs 30 pounds! He just turned 2 on Tuesday and he weighs 30 pounds! What's more, Marcelus weighs 34. More than 2 years difference in age and Marcelus only has 4 pounds on Phoenix. If Phoenix ate anything and didn't just guzzle milk all day, Marce would be in trouble!

No wonder I'm complaining so much about their wagon rides...I'm pulling 65 pounds! With the weight of the wagon, I'm pulling close to my own weight!

My Suns

I LOVE MY TEAM! As bad as the first 2 games for us were, the second two in Phoenix have more than made up for them. After those 2 losses in LA, we made defensive adjustments and went to a zone defense, which isn't typically played in basketball passed a certain point of competition and certainly is not played in the playoffs for an entire game, but we have played it the last 2 games and really stumped the Lakers into shooting outside jumpers and 3's. They haven't been able to penetrate or get inside the paint very easily. We will see what happens when the guys go back to LA with the zone defense but last night was probably the funnest game to watch. It was so exciting. The Phoenix Suns are not MY team because I live in Gilbert AZ, they are MY team because they play the style of basketball that I am most inspired by and the style that I am most attracted to, fast paced, ball movement, 3 ball, crazy assists, big dunks! I LOVE it! It is a real TEAM. As Kenny Smith (TNT) said, "The starters put the charcoal in the BBQ, but the bench comes in and lights it up!" I wish I would have taped the game last night, that's how good it was, but here is a recap, and the celebration afterward! I've said it before and I'll say it again, this year, this 2009-2010 Phoenix Suns team is my favorite Phoenix Suns team in history, including the Charles Barkley years in the early 90's...and yes I remember watching those teams. This is my favorite Phoenix Suns team so far and it probably will be forever. I LOVE this team!

Phoenix Turns 2!

Actually, Phoenix turns 2 years old tomorrow but we had a little family party on Saturday night. This is the cake I made him, devil's food, chocolate frosting with sprinkles and little sugar footballs! The ice cream was really good too! Some of the pictures are blurry because I need a new camera. Thanks for coming guys!

Hats

Here are some pictures of the boys in their new summer hats. Marce didn't want to take the pictures and Phoenix was glued to the TV.

New Music

I'm pretty bad at keeping up. I always seem to be 6 months behind. Last night in an attempt to keep up I found some stuff I like. First off I must say that after the train wreck that "No One" was, Alicia Keys totally redeemed herself with "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart" I LOVE IT. I listen to it everyday and every time I do it erases the damage caused by "No One". I hate to be so mean, but that song was a horrific experience for me.

Katy Perry has a song out called "California Gurls". It's stupid but I LOVE IT. Plus it features Snoop Dogg. That helps, he's one of my favorite rappers. I think the thing that got me in this song is that I am a CA girl at heart. I mean I grew up in NV but I was born there, my favorite place is there (Carlsbad), and it is my goal to end up there. I LOVE CA. The other major thing I liked about this song the first time I heard it was the bass. It IS SWEET. It gave me the same stupid carefree feeling that Miley Cyrus' "Party In The USA" gave me. I'll always like that song. That's the thing about me. If I like it, I like it for life. I'm not trendy with music, even if the music is trendy. I will still love that song in ten years when it seems lame. By the way Miley's new song "Can't Be Tamed" seemed lame but I only heard the little preview.

I also found a Timbaland song featuring Katy Perry called "If We Ever Meet Again" that I kind of like.

I have also been listening to One Republic's album called "Waking Up". It's okay. It's nothing to scream about but it's pleasant and I really like the hit single "All The Right Moves"

I also bought my first collection of Linda Perry. I like her.

That's all...what have you been listening to lately?

Nash

This was on the NBA Playoff website that I check game times and stuff. Steve Nash is my favorite Guard in the NBA. Here is just ONE of the reasons...assists.

My Current Favorite Commercials

Have fun with some of my favorite commercials!

You might have to watch this one a few times but it is hilarious!

P.S. There was another VW commercial done featuring the guys from Inside The NBA on TNT (Ernie, Kenny, & Charles) but I couldn't find it. The old school one with Jordan and Bird is obviously not current but I wanted you to see where the Dwight/Lebron commercial stemmed from. Hope you like these. I think they are way funny.

So You Think You Know Me?

Favorite Pixar movie? Up. I love everything about this movie, the deep meanings, the story of the old couple and their dreams. I love the abstract things in this movie, the things that are in there that could never happen. This movie makes me cry and crushes me every time I see Mr. Fredricksen betrayed by his life time hero.

Favorite Disney Movie? Pinocchio. This movie is so spiritual and it's got so many underlying messages and lessons. It pretty much goes hand in hand with the plan of happiness. It's so much about choices, agency, accountability and freedom.

Why were you given your particular name? My parents saw it in a newspaper I think.

How many brothers and sisters do you have? 5.

What is your favorite thing to do? Perform. I didn't come to love it until around my senior year in HS. When I was young doing anything in front of people made me very nervous. The exception was basketball. But now I love to perform, including public speaking, telling a story at a gathering, playing music, dancing, anything...you name it, I'll perform it if it's something I'm confident in.

What is your favorite food? BBQ.

What is your favorite book? Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

What is your favorite candy bar? Anything with that candy peanut butter in it, Reeses, Whatumacallit, 5th Avenue, FastBreak, ect.

What is your favorite cookie? I like Chewy Oatmeal and Chocolate Andes Mint Cookies.

What is your favorite sport? Basketball, Cross Country/Track, Baseball.

What is your favorite kind of music? Jeez, that's hard. I like ballads that are so pretty they make me cry, and upbeat piano/orchestra driven songs that make me want to dance.

What is your favorite song? Are you kidding. I could maybe answer this question if you gave me a group.

What do you want to be when you grow up? Basketball Coach. 2nd choice: Cross Country/Track Coach. Either that or an author or music producer.

How many kids do you want? 3-4.

What is your favorite temple? San Diego hands down.

What place you would like to know about? England.

What place would you like to visit? England, Ireland, Hawaii...

What is your favorite thing about your mom? My mom is one of the easiest people to live with or be around. She compliments every personality because she is Christlike. She's probably the most unselfish person I know. Nothing is ever for her. Nothing is ever about her.

What is your favorite thing about your dad? My dad is one of the smartest people I know. Dad will know. Dad has all the answers. Dad has so much wisdom. He's experienced a lot. He's been the jack of all trades so he knows a lot about pretty much everything because he also loves to learn. I also love that dad looks 10 years younger than he is. He looks like Hollywood's best leading man.

I also love that both of my parents are young and hip enough to relate and understand us kids. Either they make an effort to do that or it just comes natural but there's really nothing my parents won't listen to or look into if we're into it. They're hip, there's no other way to say it.

What is your favorite thing about yourself? I like my confidence and the fact that I know who I am, I know what I like and I'm not concerned with what others think of me. Not really anyway. I like that I'm not afraid to be myself and do what I want even if I am a little different.

Do you like to sing? I LOVE to sing and one of my number one wishes is that I could do it better. I have a couple things I have to work on when I sing which causes me to be self conscious about it. Breath control and breaking into falsetto gracefully. I write my own music, lyrics, and melody lines. I also play music well but I'm not as confident in singing which is why I'm more of a song-writer/producer type and less of an artist type, although I love to perform so I don't know. Maybe I just need to practice singing more and be confident...

Do you like to dance? Gosh. I LOVE to dance and I love to improv and get a group excited. Improv is king, what you do on the spot is yourself letting the music work with your body like a palette. That's the best. You have to practice that. Improv takes a lot of brain work. Your mind has to be in shape. It's the same mind in shape as rapping freestyle would require. Your mind has to be more in shape than your body but if you are, it's the most rewarding way to dance.

Do you like to play a musical instrument? Hello! I play the drum set and all the percussion instruments favorites being Timpani drums and suspended cymbals probably. I play piano by memorization and writing my own. I play the bass also by memorization and writing my own. If I can hear it on the bass, I can play it unless it's like crazy.

What musical instruments can you play? Drums/Percussion/Piano/Bass

What is your favorite type of art? I love fashion. I love pastel and some paints. I love charcoal. Photography has to be good. My all time favorite form of art is the art of interviewing.

Have you ever seen a Broadway musical? Do you like theater? No I have not really seen a show but I would love to.

Do you like building things? If it's baking or a gingerbread house, something like that. I don't have mad building skills so...

What would you like to learn about cars? I've got decent knowledge of cars for a girl, but if I learned more I'd want to learn more about makes and models through the years.

What would you like to teach others about? Pretty much anything I know. I would love to teach someone anything about what I know. I do love that.

What are three adjectives which describe you? Inspired, Emotional, Passionate.

How would your friend describe you to someone who has never seen you? She's the shorter, skinny one with dirty blonde hair.

In five years, what kind of person will you be? I'll be the same.

In ten years, what kind of person will you be? " "

What do you want to be doing in five years? Definitely done with childbirth! I'd love to be settled in the place I want to be. I'd like to be coaching or at least running a marathon and doing tri's and stuff. I'd like to have gotten my music composed and recorded also.

What do you want to be doing in ten years? That's too far ahead, but mostly what I put ahead.

What are your favorite subjects in school? Spelling, Geography.

When you have an hour of free time, what do you like to do? Read, Workout, Call a friend/family member on the phone, watch a favorite show.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you have any pets? No.

What was the last book you read? The Goose Girl

Do you like to cook? No. I LOVE to bake. Very different things.

What's your favorite food? Italian, Mexican, BBQ.

Do you live in a house or an apartment? Apartment.

Have you ever lived in another country? No.

Have you ever met a famous person? Yes. Wait...I don't remember and I'm too lazy to try and think. Probably though.

What countries have you visited? None.

What do you do on Sundays? Get ready for church, go to church, eat, relax, watch movies, watch NBA games...

What do you do? What's your job? I cook, bake, clean, pay bills, schedule our family affairs, plan outings and activities, keep the family blog, launder the clothing, budget the finances, inventory, and take care of the kids. I don't get days off and I'm on call every hour!

What is your motto in life? I don't have one I guess. To have one motto is pretty dumb.

What kind of people do you like? Funny question. I like nice people who are outgoing so then I'll be outgoing. People that are accepting and don't judge wrongfully. I like black people. I like a lot of people.

Which languages do you speak? I suck. Just English.

What are you best at? probably dancing or song writing.

Who do you respect the most? my parents, my grandparents and a few other luckies.

Who has had the most influence in your life? Michael Jackson.

Would you like to be famous? I think I could be. I know I wouldn't like certain aspects while other aspects would make it worth it to me. If you can create something that you love and show the whole world, then yeah, it would be great, whether it's a book or an album.

Are you a 'morning' or 'night' person? I can be both as long as I get about 9-10 hours of sleep.

When do you feel best? In the morning, afternoon, or evening? Probably the morning.

Where do you spend most of your money? Are we talking about our money in whole or our spending money? Either way I spend my money random places, and not one particular place gets too much of my business.

Apple juice or orange juice? Orange juice.

Which do you prefer, sweet or salty foods? Sweet.

Ninjas or pirates? Pirates!

What was your favorite childhood television program? Wow, um...I liked My little Pony, and Care Bears and then a little later, I liked Power Rangers and Sportcenter, still like Sportcenter ha ha We liked Saved By The Bell. All those 90's classics.

You Tube

Don't get me wrong, it can be very useful but I can't let my 4 year old son on there anymore ha ha. Let me explain. Marce likes to play on the computer on this website...

...but when we couldn't get something to pull up, I went to you tube, you can find anything on you tube. I left Marcelus to watch Playhouse Disney and no joke about 5-10 minutes later found he was complaining that it wasn't the right show anymore. Somehow he got from Playhouse Disney to this...
The music video "Killing In The Name" by Rage Against The Machine. I actually like that song but for Marcelus, not what he wanted. It could have been something bad though so no you tube for him unless I am there directing traffic. I thought it was pretty funny though.

The Story Of My Weekend

I was sick Thursday-Saturday with soar throat, gunky cough and body aches. I basically did nothing Thursday and Friday and the boys and I watched some TV together (a rarity, I only watch TV at night). I have to say for the record now that I have seen it...that Yo Gabba Gabba is the worst show on television...along with my original pick, Teletubbies! It is the most noneducational, weird, annoying.....everything a really bad kids show has to offer! I told myself during the show that I would never let the kids watch it again.

On top of me being sick for the weekend, Saturday Sharrid dropped me off at Walmart for groceries while he took the boys to the park. I told him to come and get me in an hour. I still was not 100% and took the shopping slow. When I finished I walked out and stood by the entrance for about 15 minutes and finally he came in a different black car, rolled down the window and said "Hey miss, do you need a ride?" in a disguised voice. SIDE NOTE: Sharrid does "voices" really well, it's his number one hidden talent. Also, I am half blind and could not recognize him from the distance that he was. So, I said "No thanks" nicely. He said "Are you sure, you look lost or something..." (really convincingly) I said "I'm not, I have a ride coming" He said "Are you sure?" I said "Yeah". Then Sharrid said (after all that time!) in his regular voice "Lexie, it's me" as he got out of the car. I immediately felt dumb, but justified. I knew Shar was joking and didn't mean to make me feel stupid. He knows that I like when he does voices because he doesn't do it too often but when we got home I told him to never do that again. Apparently at the park when he was coming back to get me the car stalled on him and quit. A nice guy named Jim saw him and helped him get the car seats and kids in his car (the other black car) and drove them to Walmart to come and get me and the groceries. Jim probably never even knew why I couldn't recognize my own husband from ten feet away! We got home and I asked who the guy was ( I thought he was in our ward, I didn't know he met him at the park) Sharrid said "I don't know." I said "What?" He then told me he met him at the park. Sharrid referred to him as "Angel Jim". Our mechanic came and picked up our keys so he could diagnose our car. Turns out a fuse blew. It was easy and cheap to fix and we now have our car back.

The car problem happened Saturday and our mechanic fixed it Monday so Sunday, we walked to church. It's about a mile. It was warm and I wasn't too happy because I wanted to wear something nice for Mother's Day (So vain!...and yes I wore something nice anyway) I put on my new balance tennis shoes, put my heels in a Walmart bag and headed out the door with Shar pulling the boys in our red wagon. Sharrid kept saying stuff like "People do this every Sunday, come on!" With me then feeling guilty for feeling a little ghetto and complaining and saying "Fine, Okay, you're right." We left 30 minutes ahead of time and were just a little late. Someone picked me up on the way, but Shar kept on with the boys in the wagon. I felt bad but these people (really nice by the way) came by twice after I'd said it's okay. They wanted to give me the ride for mother's day. On the way home we barely made it out of the parking lot when Phoenix' nursery teacher pulled up with her 18 passenger van and told us to just throw the wagon in the back. She is so awesome, she was Marce's teacher before of course and he loved her and still asks to go to her class!

SO, having said all of that, my Mother's Day was extraordinary but in a different way. With not knowing how much our car repair was going to cost and not having a car to go anywhere, Sharrid didn't get me anything. I always let him know that gifts are not about spending money but Sharrid has no creativity yet. I am hoping to continue inspiring him through what I do. Heck, I threw him a killer two person party last year and didn't spend anything except for homemade upside down pineapple cake ingredients! Come on! (Sigh) He'll get it right someday. He'll realize that I AM A GIFT PERSON! And that NO, it doesn't have to cost money! I forgive him because this crazy weekend was not his fault and he is super busy and stressed with school. Guess what I'll be getting him if he passes all of his classes and graduates with his associates in a month??? YEP, A GIFT! See, that's me planning ahead. He just needs to work on his creativity and procrastination! I already know what I want to get him! HELLO! I refuse to be the wife who has to give my husband money and tell him what to get me. SURPRISES! That's what it's all about if you're a gift person. So, until next time, I forgive him.:)

P.S. Since I missed Friday's workout, I killed myself Monday and am super sore today.

And, I am going to a movie tonight with my sister and sister-in-law! YES!

My sister and her kids are coming over to play tomorrow and I am making homemade ice cream! YES!

And, the Suns killed the Spurs hardcore four times in a row to sweep the series! That was so much FUN to watch! Bye Bye Spurs. It is so US this year, GO SUNS! I freakin' love you!

Marcelus Funnies

We were leaving on an errand...
Me: "you're not taking your backpack." (Marce had it on his shoulders)
Marce: (Sputtering) "But I need to take my pack-pack because I need to try and go to school today!"

The poor kid has been asking to go to school since the day he turned 3. He is finally starting Preschool in August and we get to go tour the school and meet his teacher tomorrow! I am so excited and happy for him and hope the summer goes by fast so he doesn't have to wait too long.

I was getting in the shower so I needed to put a movie on for the kids while they played with toys. I flipped through and put one on that they never pick, Sleeping Beauty. As soon as the Menu came up Marce started to argue.
Marce: "But it has a bird. It has a bad guy and a bird."

Now I know why he never picks it, he's scared of Maleficent and her bird.

Family Update

SHARRID - Joined Facebook and invited me to be his friend...nice. Slammed with school, 5 classes...hates Biology class. Done with associates in Corrections in June. Getting back on Reliv (a vitamin drink he loves). Loves Les Miserables dream cast, fiddler on the roof, and now listens to Wicked all the time and constantly asks me questions about it, as if I know. I have not seen the play! He is constantly trying to decipher the story based on the music. Tickets next year? I think so...

LEXIE - Busy. Planning, Scheduling. Bill paying, & keeping up with the chores! Next date, Wet 'n' Wild (no kids!). Changing hair very soon, going blonde & curly again. Starting back up on working out and adding a major cleanse for the first time. Watching A LOT of basketball, Playoffs baby! (Annoying Dick Vital voice)

MARCELUS - WILL NOT SHUT UP!! 20 questions around the clock. Starting Preschool in August, tours the school in 2 days! Swim lessons in July. Loves baseball and is really good, bought him a glove, a bat, and a bunch of wiffle balls!
