AFTER
I did it! Yeah, I decided to cut it before going on our trip. He won't be so hot traveling and at the beach and SeaWorld and everything...and he won't have to get loads of sand in his bird's nest at the beach. My grandma can't stand sand in the house! ha ha
This morning we had to go to Fry's cause Sharrid didn't tell me he had a potlock at work until it was too late for me to make a dessert he was signed up for. We went to the Bakery and found a good sized coffee cake for $2.99 on sale! I pointed this out to Sharrid. He told me it was coffee cake (like I didn't know from the big sign) and I briefly explained to him that there wasn't any coffee in it, and that it's called coffee cake because you eat it WITH coffee, or some people do...Once in a while we have these moments. They go both ways but I really like when I'm the smart one (like during the Olympics when I had to explain to Shar why the runners on the track in lane 8 got to start "ahead" of the runners in lane 1. I didn't think you had to run track to know that one but it was cute.) Sharrid gets me on a lot of common sense stuff too, even in the kitchen. He is more street smart than I am...AND book smart. Hmmm........I'm smarter at the stuff that doesn't matter so much.....
I bought Marce this car at Fry's. It's pretty big for being a Hot Wheels, perfect for toddler's. Some line of special edition classic cars. Maybe we'll try and collect them...he was happy enough to have one. I love the first, fourth, and fifth picture.

One Down
Here's one finished project. It has been a long process only because Sharrid had to finish up all the touch up work himself because I can't see good enough to make lines straight, imagine that! He did a great job and we moved Marce's stuff back into his room yesterday. I present the blue room. Ok , some of these pictures my flash is on and some the flash is off. I will tell you that the pictures that captured the real colors the best are the window/closet shot, and the door shots. The one wall is Navy, and the other wall is a royal blue color. I picked the Navy color, Shar picked the Royal. We both painted equally and I think it turned out great. Sorry about the window glare on the one picture. In a lot of these pictures the Royal color looks brighter than it really is and lighter, but anyway, here is the finished room.
When we get back from our trip my projects are: Potty train Marce, Paint Phoenix room, and Work out! Yay!

Craning
Here's Phoenix at 3 mos. old now! I put him down opposite the TV, didn't think anything of it and we noticed later he was happy (this is rare when he's on his own) I guess he found a way to watch the TV, by basically breaking his neck...that works.
What's Goin On
Well, I think I have decided to give Marce a hair cut, but not until just before we leave on our trip. I'll miss the curls (wish they weren't as stubborn) but I have to remember that I can always attempt to grow it out again. We do have plenty of time. I think it would be easier if I had all my kids here, I mean think about it...if I had, say...4 kids, I could grow Marce's hair out and get all my other kids hair cut and still feel fulfilled. I don't know what my problem is. Ok, yes I do. The problem with me is that I LOVE to cut hair. The reason why I have a personal struggle with this is that I also like long hair. So I'm always conflicted in this way. Weird, yes, I know. Once Phoenix is of age to have a hair cut, probably 10-12 months or so. I'll cut his, maybe by that time I'll be able to really grow Marce's like I'd planned. I just have to cut hair, someone's hair at least once or twice a year! Sharrid doesn't count. He's fun, but not as fun.

Impatient
I've been on the verge of cutting Marcelus' hair. It has not been cut for 9 months and look how short it is still. I understand it's curly and it doesn't grow especially fast but still...shouldn't we get more out of this for 9 months of growing? To get it to where I wanted I'd have to keep growing another whole year probably! I'm just getting a little impatient. I know I'd regret it some days. Right now, some days his hair looks good, but other days it just looks like a big messy birds nest. What do you think? We'll see what happens...
My Saturday
First off, this is very rare but I left both boys home with Sharrid for an hour and went to a RS activity to make this Christmas glass cube thing. It was the only craft I liked, and luckily for me, the easiest to make. I am not a "crafty" person, not boutique crafty anyway, but I did like this and it was good to get out alone, even for just an hour. Sharrid still doesn't fully understand how my own home has become somewhat of a prison to me. I don't complain too much about it so I have no problem feeling a little sorry for myself. Shar ought to know all about prison life. I intend to make my place as fun as possible. Sharrid was happy to have me go and helped me get out of bed (after the Olympics, even 8 or 9 seems early) I realized as I got ready that I never wear real clothes anymore, except on Monday's. I felt a bit over dressed but all I wore was a pair of jeans and a cap sleeved shirt with a belt and tennis shoes...I'm going insane. When I got home after a couple hours I put my sweats back on...Anyway with the craft you can put little Christmas lights behind it to make it glow. Christmas will be coming faster than ever. Better start saving for that piano ha ha. I don't really care about much else this year except for our Gingerbread house tradition we want to start. This year we'll start it in November so it gets done.
I guess Shar and I thought this was a little amusing...twins. It's kinda cute.

Friday's Footage - Movies
Friday's Footage today I've decided will be a review of some of my favorite movies. Well, I will not review them but give clips and then tell what my favorite part in each movie is. First off here is a behind the scenes clip from Anne of Green Gables. Afterwards is another one. The first clip is really bad quality but if you are a fanatic like me, it will not matter.
And now, my favorite parts of Anne of Green Gables are hard to choose as it's forever long including the sequel, but they are after Anne gets upset with Gilbert when they are walking down a path over Anne's story that was published and she's in her room crying and Marilla is talking to her about how Gilbert loves her and gave up the school for her so she could stay in Avonlea and how she shouldn't throw it all away for some ideal that doesn't exist I think is actually very close to what she really says. That is my most favorite part I think and I also really like the part where she bumps into Gilbert after being to the ladies college and it starts to rain and they go under the gazibo and he tells her he's engaged and gives her the note and it's all so sweet but I think it's then that she finally realizes that she loves him, and that she kind of blew it cause he's engaged now. I love that part.
This is a clip from Mary Poppins and it's also my favorite part. I think I watched this movie a million times when I was a kid but when I watched it much later, that's when I realized that it's not meant for kids. I mean kids love it and that's great but I think what Walt Disney wanted to portray was much deeper and symbolic than what a child could understand. It was at this part in the movie that I realized that and that's why it's my favorite part. I love how parts of the song are actually spoken. It makes it more of a real moment, a serious moment, and I love Burt's sarcasm. He helps George figure it out by his friendly but serious sarcasm. I love the last lines of the song while he's singing about how Mary Poppins came and ruined his life and she really came and made him realize that he was a neglectful father...I love the Burt's part at the end "and all too soon they've up and grown, and then they've flown, and it's too late for you to give..." He's basically told him that he better fix the situation now while his kids are still young and forgiving, because at some point they wouldn't be kids anymore and it would be too late. I just love this part. I know that Walt Disney took Mary Poppins very seriously, and I think it's cool because I think I "get him" on that. I take it seriously too. Try not to focus on the subtitles, I don't know why they are there.
This is from Phenomenon, one of my favorite movies. I couldn't find my favorite part but this is just a great song and a great part in the movie. I think while you are watching the movie, you are finally able to exhale at this point. There's something about a girl shaving a guy's face, it's sweet. The only thing you need to know about the clip is that he's a little down trodden and she comes and helps him clean up so he can feel better. I recommend this movie to anyone.
And my favorite part in this movie is a scene in the bar when he is telling everybody of the million ideas he has, and how he comes up with so many ideas and thinks so many thoughts every minute and every day and after he breaks the mirror, Doc talking to the people in the bar about how they always have to drag him down to make themselves feel better and it's just a great part because it doesn't happen very often in a movie where it's this uplifting, and where they are making Christian goodness look good I guess. It's hard to explain. It's definately a part we can all relate to.
This next one is a clip from what's probably my very favorite movie It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World. I don't have a favorite part but this is great. Any part that Ethel Merman is in is my favorite. I LOVE her! Mickey Rooney reminds me of my grandpa Packard in this movie. The movie is hillarious.
I love the movie Hook. It is my favorite version of Peter Pan. I even like it better than the book. The book has no rythem and it doesn't reallt have a story line or a plot. I think that anyone who has redone Peter Pan had to come up with their own. The reason why John Barrie is so amazing is because the book introduces the idea of Neverland, and the characters. That is the important thing, that we understand what the concept is. Back to Hook. I didn't get a clip but my favorite part is on the bridge when Thud tells Peter what his happy thought is and when he gives Peter Toodles marbles because he lost them in Neverland and has been looking for them ever since. The marbles are Toodles happy thoughts. It's really sweet and that's my favorite part. We used to do the Rufio chant in HS with my friends. Emily Stratton did it the best. Good times.
I didn't get a clip for it but Dave is also one of my favorite movies and my favorite part is near the end when the secret service guy tells Dave he would've taken a bullet for him. You'd have to see the movie to understand why that part was a tear jerker, and my favorite part is also when Dave and the first lady are on the grass talking about if he were still in office what he would do and he says "a lot of things..." I love that. It's pretty inspirational.
Lastly I love the movie Cast Away. I didn't get a clip of it but my favorite part is when he gets over the last wave and he'd done it, but he looks back at the island and realizes he'll probably never see it again. He's been living there for 4 years. It was HIS island. I just really "get" the significance of that part and with no dialogue and only music. The island looks all misty and mysterious. It's a beautiful shot. That's my favorite part by far.

What I Want
I've been thinking the last few days that I really want a used piano for Christmas. You can find them on Craigslist for a couple hundred. I really don't care what it looks like as long as it's not thrashed and all the keys work. I guess it's probably the songs I've been listening to lately. Well, actually I've always listened to songs with piano and orchestration in them. I have a little collection of piano music (half of it I stole from my mom). Yeah, I need to make copies of that stuff and give it back. And sheet music is affordable. I love to play but it's not easy on my eyes. If I learn a song it's only because I really like it. It has to be worth the hardship for me. Most times I just write my own music and play that by ear. Any song I learn, I memorize it by the time I'm done learning it. That's because it takes me a while to play through a song because of my eyes and also because I don't know a lot of my notes well. Anyway, it'd be great to get one. I'll be keeping my eye on Craigslist I guess over the next few months but if any of you know anyone who is getting rid of one anytime soon, let me know. There's pretty much only one place in my house I could put it but it's worth it to me even if it's squishy. Maybe the kids would like to hear me play,...well, try to play. I remember so many nights falling asleep to my mom playing the piano. That was a long time ago when I was young. It will be good to have a piano in the house so my kids can get familiar. They are all going to take when they are ready, usually around age 8 my mom says. For me it will be great, and maybe I can start to compose all the music I've written. That will be a very long process and I might need outsider help but it'll be great just to freshen up and play. About the time I left home I still couldn't read any better but I wrote a lot of songs at the piano, just made them up. Michaela loved when I played them. Her favorite was a eerie minor song that she said reminded her of Halloween. It did remind me of the score to a horror movie. Tibi & Lan always liked my music cause I've always used them as guinee pigs to see if it was good. Thankfully my dad never seemed to mind. He was always working right there at the computer.
Something totally unrelated...you know I should probably keep something sweet in the house at all times, just for those craving moments when you NEED something. It gets pretty bad sometimes. You know what I'm talking about, like when you were little and wanted chocolate really bad so you scanned mom's cupboards and found bakers chocolate and thought you had scored big time. Yeah, well...the other night was really bad and of course I'm trapped here not being able to drive and all. I became pretty creative. I was supposed to make a dessert for Phoenix' blessing which I didn't have time to do which was good cause we had enough sweets and cake but I still have the stuff for it and wanted to half the recipe anyway when I make it in the future (my little family doesn't need 2 pies!) So, I took out one of the Oreo crusts and started eating it as a sweet snack. Yeah,...Oreo my butt! It was gross and didn't taste anything like Oreos. Now I know to make my own Oreo crust for the dessert! After that failed I opened a can of sweetened condensed milk. I knew that stuff was really good but wasn't sure if it was a good idea to just eat it right out of the can. I looked at the ingredients: milk, sugar. PERFECT! Boy was it yummy. I only ate half the can. After a while I started to feel guilty for eating it. It'd probably just be a good idea to keep some Reeses or M&M's in the house...but then I'll just eat them too much. I don't know but don't you hate those cravings!

It dawned on me yesterday that Phoenix was probably good enough at holding his head up now to try out his Bumbo sitter. I have been so excited to use one with him. So, I was excited when it turned out great. He loved it and so we are both very happy. He loves to watch Marce run around and play and it even allows him to see the TV when Marcelus has a movie on. I got my camera out cause it was just about the cutest thing ever to see his little chubby body sitting up in this chair. I managed to make him smile the big ones...finally! He's so stubborn. I've seen a couple but he's never done enough to catch a picture. These pictures are so super cute to me. Marcelus posed for a couple pictures himself. Marce was funny, since Phoenix was taking pictures in his chair, Marcelus wanted to take a picture in one of his chairs. Phoenix was so happy in the Bumbo I even played ball with Marcelus. He has a good aim. He nailed me right in the head more than once. I was paying attention to Phoenix...but we threw the ball back and forth a bit and I realized that if my kids weren't so needy, I could actually play with them more. I don't keep him in the Bumbo for too long of a time cause I don't want him to get burnt out and start to hate it but it's so nice every once in a while!
