I love anything my mom used to sing! Here's one of them.
I could have picked any Elton John song because I love pretty much anything he does, but I picked this one because this is the song my dad had playing in the car when I asked "Who is this? I love this." I was probably 13 or 14 and I have been a big fan ever since. This is still one of my favorites that he does. As far as ballads go, I love Sacrifice, it's so pretty.
My parents used to play these guys all the time on road trips. Us kids loved it!
My mom was so cool for liking these guys. She put this album on all the time at home and we girls would just dance ourselves silly! The whole album was just sweet!
My mom had Whitney Houston's debut album. It had this song on it and I loved it. I loved the whole album though. She's been making killer music ever since. I saw her live about 7 years ago. She's still singing like this! She was excellent live.
My mom also had this album and played it all the time, especially in the morning when she was getting ready for the day. This is by far my favorite Gloria Estefan song...isn't this horrible choreography? ha ha I hope she fired that choreographer...

30 Day Song Challenge
Day 16: "Your" song (you and your gf.bf, spouses song)...
I didn't start thinking about this til recently but Sharrid and I definitely have a song. We lived in Vegas for the first 6 months of our marriage. We were too poor to date and do fun things, but we used to go to record shops together after Shar got home from work. That was what we did for fun outside the apartment I guess you could say. It was more my thing but Sharrid was a great sport. He liked to find old stuff he grew up on too. We'd browse around, talk from across the store (we were usually the only ones in there), and then we'd meet up at the cash register with our goodies if any...
One time Shar bought a double disc CD mixed with old R&B and even some early hip hop. We'd play it in our apartment all the time and there was one song on there that we'd sing along to that just stuck because it was so darn funny to us. We would just laugh, we couldn't get through it. One of us would just be singing that song at some point and when it got to a certain part, we'd both just crack up laughing. I think you'll know what part. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is our song. Enjoy.

30 Day Song Challenge
Day 15: Your favorite song from your High School days...
When I was in High School, POP ruled. Even the rock had more pop sound to it than in previous years when Live, and Nirvana and groups like that were playing. Offspring, Blink 182, Green Day, and No Doubt to name a few, were the rock groups that were out when I was in High School. It was the Boy Band era. Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Destiny's Child, Spice Girls, and TLC were popular. I loved "No Scrubs" from TLC. Of course you had Britney, Christina, Shakira, JLo, and even Avril. Hip Hop was about to explode. Will Smith, Nelly, and Eminem were big.
On the rock side, Green Day is a definite winner for me. I still LOVE Green Day. As far as everything else...well it all comes down to NSYNC. I will still play NSYNC, and it still sounds good. Their stuff seemed to be more timeless than others, even though it was all just a phase. Those songs and videos can still hold up. I actually thought their videos were well done, which rarely happens for some reason (unless you are MJ) I have to give this win to NSYNC because before I dove deep into Michael (my senior year) it was NSYNC who made me realize that I could dance. I learned both of these dances and still love them. Plus, they were AWESOME live, and that's a must have in my opinion.

Day 14: A duet you love...and my picks are...
This is from a 1998 performance. I found the song while browsing iTunes for Tracy Chapman. What's better than Tracy Chapman and Eric Clapton together?.....NOTHING. This is brilliant. Two incredible live performers. I love both of these artists so this was just too good for me. I listen to this song all the time.
I also listen to this song all the time. I don't watch the show Glee. I love the idea, just not the execution I guess. I usually like the original version of the songs they do, rather than their version...but this is a standout for me. This kid has the best voice on the show in my opinion. It's purely beautiful. And yeah, that last scene in the clip is hilarious...

30 Day Song Challenge
Day 12: A song that you love, from a movie...and my picks are...
I LOVE this movie! I LOVE Doris Day and I LOVE Pat Carroll!! She does the voice of Ursula in The Little Mermaid. If you have not seen this movie, Netflix it, ect! It is a family favorite! It's called "With Six You Get Eggroll". This song reminds me of my Aunt Lisa for some reason. It's called "Feelins'" by the Grass Roots. This recording is not great obviously. Check it out on iTunes. They have a great sound, especially the bass.
Now if you haven't seen this movie, I really don't care to know you.....ha ha ha No seriously. The Sound Of Music is one of THE best movies of all time and it's timeless, it's for all time. Julie Andrews is one of the best vocalists of all time so it is odd I choose this song from the movie, but it is one of my favorite songs ever. I LOVE Christopher Plummer's expression at the end, it's so endearing. By the way, he does the voice of the old bad guy in Pixar's "Up". I sing this song to my babies all the time.
This is another favorite. I know it by heart and it speaks to me so much. This song breaks my heart. It's the most pivitol part in the movie. This movie has so many deep themes. This scene in the movie is perfect. I just think the song is perfectly written and the scene is perfectly directed. It just moves me. I love certain lines, they just pierce the heart, you know, especially when he finally realizes what he's doing, or not doing.
I love this song. Love her voice and she did release it on a normal cd rather than just the soundtrack. This is a silly movie I grew up on (Who didn't?) but a fantastic song that should be taken seriously. The piano part is so freakin' pretty! It just runs all over the place. I also sing this song to my babies at night.
Other picks: Where Is Love, from Oliver. A really pretty song from a movie everyone should see.
Schindler's List. This is one of my favorites from John Williams even though I have not seen the movie, the song is so pretty. My other favorites of his are the themes from Hook and Jurassic Park.

30 Day Song Challenge
Day 11: A song that you like from a style of music that you mostly don't...and the story goes...
I moved to a little country town when I was 8 years old. All I listened to was country on my radio for about 2-3 years. That was the early-mid 90's country, before it was infiltrated with all the pop and rock sound. Old school country. Long story short I got burned out and stopped listening cold turkey and started listening to everything else. I never really did start it up again, it put a bad taste in my mouth especially after the pop and stuff started coming into it. I still love the old stuff I used to listen to, and even some new stuff, but very little. I just don't like the SOUND of country music. There's nothing you can do about that.
Here are my picks...
Gotta love the piano player in this. It's a crappy recording of an awesome performance. This entire album is fantastic. It's one of the few country albums I can listen to the entirety of.
My country music loving sisters tease me for liking this song. I love the story and I love singing along to it.
Other picks: My Maria, Brooks and Dunn. You're Still The One & No One Needs To Know, Shania Twain. Love a little stronger, Diamond Rio. Fifteen, Taylor Swift.

30 Day Song Challenge
Day 10: A song that you like from a band that you don't...and let me explain my pick...
First of all, I probably could have thought about this one more but this just came to mind. Here's the deal. I don't dislike Alicia Keys but when she released "No One", I seriously doubted her...and myself for liking her stuff. Her voice is not my favorite but it absolutely killed me to listen to that song. It was so horrendous! I just remember it coming out. My sister Kira was living with me at the time and it was always on the radio of course. We just couldn't figure out how that song could have been released the way it was. The vocal is strained and at points even flat. I don't know how that song was ever popular, it just sounds terrible. THAT left a nasty taste in my mouth with Alicia Keys even though I liked previous songs like Karma. Truthfully, her songs are just alright to me, even her hits I could take or leave. I do really like Karma, it's probably my favorite. "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart" came out and TOTALLY redeemed A. Keys for me. Still not a huge fan but I LOVE this song. This song is legit and I LOVE it. Here's the lame video ha ha

Amar'e Willard Is Blessed
Amar'e was blessed by daddy on June 5th. It was a short and sweet blessing. Shar blessed him that he'd always be content with his place in life and that he'd have the desire to share the Gospel with others. It was a quick trip for the family who headed back right after Sunday dinner.
We're headed to the valley this weekend for some testing Sharrid has to do for a job opening. We're excited to see the family again!

Marcelus And The Missing Teeth
Marcelus' two bottom teeth had been loose forever. He finally pulled out the first tooth one day and the other the next day! He got a dollar from the tooth fairy for each one and thought that was pretty easy money! Now he's finally got some blank spaces to match the one where he knocked his front tooth out!
This one reminds me so much of my brother Landon with dark features. Landon and I look a lot alike. Out of all my siblings, Landon looks the most like me. Actually, because of the dark features, this looks just like my dad! This is a little mini Kevin ha ha. Pretty cute!

Photo Update
One morning this week Phoenix totally biffed it running down the (hard wood) hallway. He came to my bedside (I was sleeping) and I was so out of it I tried to console him but didn't notice the blood. He had hit his face pretty bad I guess. He said he hurt his nose and his lip was bleeding. He wouldn't let me look at his tongue or teeth but I assume he bit his lip. Needless to say, he had some mighty fine fat lips (as if his lips aren't big enough!).
This picture is just a snap shot from another day I think. He wasn't in a great mood.
Wow. This is a horrible picture. I am so tired from staying up with Amar'e and trying to crib "train" him! He still sleeps too much during the day and wants to stay up all night. After crying and consoling for hours in the crib, he's poopy, needs burping, or is hungry again...eventually I just end up breastfeeding him out of his misery...and mine! I don't know what it is about my babies! They are AWFUL sleepers. I look pretty bushed in this photo.
They do grow out of it but in the mean time they age me about 5 years, each one. Marcelus and Phoenix are such good sleepers now. They actually ask to go to bed if it gets to be after 8:30 (their bed time is at 8). Phoenix has been volunteering to take naps nowadays much like his nephew Levi used to! Never thought that would happen. So I know Amar'e will end up just fine, but this is going to be one tough year on me physically. Hopefully things get better soon, he's only 6 weeks after all. 
I am definitely looking old! I am the mother of 3! And boy do they do a number on you. I am preaching to the choir though I'm sure. I'm sure we'll have another one but Shar and I will most likely retire after that unless we have some devine intervention...like my parents did....bwahahahah...4 sounds like a really good number but with the way I feel right now, I'm going to settle on 3 for a couple, you know. By the time I'm 30, I'm going to look and FEEL 40! The boys are SO worth it.
This is the main culprit! The little devil snoozing in my bed probably after I was too unconscious to put him back in his crib or chair...
