My Pregnancy @ 21 Weeks

I am now 21 weeks and whenever people ask me how I'm feeling, I tell them okay, and that I feel much bigger than I am. Here are a few shots of me before church yesterday. I'm not wearing any make up so I look pretty shiny, but then again I always look shiny... I know I look small in these pictures. I am wearing black and I hate to be so forward but most of my baby bump is literally in my crotch. Why must I carry SO low!? This pregnancy has been a wimpy one. I feel so weak, old, and aged! My back hurts sometimes. My feet hurt almost all the time. My boobs hurt. I have inherited my mother's dry crusty feet and it's all I can do to keep them scrubbed and moisturized. My boobs only hurt because they are seriously constantly getting bigger. With my two previous pregnancies, I never felt like they got any bigger til the baby was born and I was breastfeeding. This pregnancy is a different story. My boobs are being smashed every day because my bras don't fit anymore, something I have never experienced before. These are the bras I wore when I was nursing Phoenix and they don't even fit during this pregnancy, what am I going to do when the baby comes and I'm nursing Amar'e, they'll be even bigger then!? Having bigger boobs is not all bad :) ...I just have got to get a bigger bra!
On a side note I am really happy I cut my hair off. I have gotten what seems like hundreds of compliments from everybody. I love doing it. I love the way it looks. I love wearing big dangly earrings with it. I even love my natural color. I think Sharrid likes it too.
Amar'e is starting to kick instead of just move and flutter. I read in my weekly pregnancy email that because of hormonal changes I might experience some acne. Yep. I'm faithful on my face washing but my face isn't all that great right now. Atleast I know why and I can blame it on the pregnancy.
Anyway, there's a pregnancy update from me and if I don't post anything again til after the Holiday, have a Merry Christmas! We have a heady and hectic new year ahead of us!

Putting Up The Lights

We decided to put up lights on the balcony this year and what's better than big colorful bulbs? I am seeing a lot more Christmas lights up on homes than I did last year which is great! The boys had a good time helping dad. I'll try and get a picture of the finished night shot.

My Early Christmas Present

Our little 37" TV now sits on my dresser...

...because my early Christmas present is all set up! It's a 55" beauty! I am so excited to watch the Suns game tonight on the big screen!
It'll be great to sit on the couch comfortably to watch TV when we get a couch. I'm glad we decided to set it up early so we can enjoy it FOR Christmas time instead of waiting to have to set it up after Christmas. I can't wait to watch all of my favorite Christmas movies in the next couple weeks!

A December Sunday

Showing His Smile

This kid has the cutest smile and the biggest dimples and cheeks. I wish I could remember more about Phoenix growing up. I don't know why but it's all kind of a blur. I just remember how heavy he was and how big he was. I wish I would have remembered how cute he was! But, that's why I have these great pictures I can look back on. He was one of the cutest babies I had ever seen and I'm not saying that cause he's mine. He really was. I couldn't believe he came out of me. If Amar'e looks anything like Phoenix I am in for a big treat. I am so happy to have another boy. I would have been thrilled to have a girl but I am happy and excited to see what Amar'e will look like. I would post pictures of Marcelus at these ages but they aren't on my computer. I am happy to say that Phoenix is starting to smile a little bit more. I have been surprised on what I've captured on camera lately. Here are some of the cutest baby pictures ever.

And here are a few pictures I got a couple days ago. He was so cute. I think it's funny how Phoenix is smiling a little more right now and at the same time he is going through 2 1/2 year old rage problems. We sure love him no matter what. Sorry for the bad quality pictures. I've got to buy a new camera soon!
This last one is my FAVORITE! His true smile!

My thoughts just after the Big Ultrasound

Going into the Ultrasound, I just wanted to know. It didn’t matter THAT much what the gender was, but just the suspense and build up and not knowing was enough. I am happy to just know what it is so I can move on with that and prepare myself mentally for it. I still feel like we will get a girl if we just have faith we will and keep trying. The Lord knows our hearts and what I can and can’t do. I just have to let myself fully recover and keep my body in shape and young to be able to get through these pregnancies to be able to have more. I see us having 4 or 5 at this point, we’ll see. I am still planning on Roma Jean and I still feel that she is there, she’s here, waiting…and we’re waiting, and I feel like it will happen if we are patient and have faith.
I am really just happy to be adding to our little family. As the kids are getting older, especially Marcelus, it is becoming much more fun to be the “mom” in my own little family. I love boys and couldn’t possibly have enough of them so I am thrilled to be having another one so long as I do get my Roma Jean before we’re done. The only thing I am a little worried about is that 3 is a crowd. Marcelus and Phoenix are best friends and do everything together. Yes they fight and feelings get hurt and tears come. But for the most part they get along pretty well. They play well. They are all each other have, and it’s been great. They bathe together, room together, watch movies together, play together. It’s always been them. They rarely are apart aside from Marcelus going to Preschool for a few hours every other day. I’m sure that break from each other is good for them too. I just don’t want this boy to be left out or too young to really play with the other boys. He’s going to be spaced a little further than the other two. I don’t want him being picked on or lonely. I just need to really show this boy a lot of love from the very start I think. And hopefully I can recover well and be able to have another one in a couple years. I have also thought of the fact that Phoenix is now a middle child. With them all being boys, I have to really watch that and make sure he is getting as much love and attention as the oldest (Marcelus) and the youngest (Amar’e). Marcelus gets A LOT of attention because he is doing everything first and learning everything first. Everything is new for us with him. He has a great first child personality and there is a special love for your first child. It isn’t more love necessarily but there is a different kind of love when it’s your first born. At least I feel that way towards Marcelus, and I expect that my parents do towards Connie. As I look back on my own childhood, I vaguely remember getting a lot of attention when I was the youngest. My aunt Lisa gave me a lot of love and attention, and my mom. After Michaela was born that “baby” thing went out the window and I was in fact the middle child. Kira always seemed so much older because she was bigger but the age gap wasn’t that big actually. For the most part I felt like a true middle child. Michaela always seemed like the “baby” even after mom had Tibi and Landon. I got attention from my mom probably because I demanded it. I just have to make sure I give equally no matter if I feel a demand or not. My mom was really great and gave us all time and attention I feel. She did a good job.
Everything will be fine. I am just happy to be having a baby. Babies are babies really at first. I am so happy to be having a newborn. I know that Amar’e will grow, and it’ll go by too fast and that he won’t be a newborn for long. Phoenix is kind of a blur for me and I really want to focus and savor everything with Amar’e. I love to feel him inside me. I’m trying to enjoy that even though I am uncomfortable and pained. I can’t wait to be able to hold him, a small newborn, in my arms for hours. Cuddle him and show him love. Hug him tight to my chest, that’s how babies feel love, through touch. I am paranoid about how damaging the delivery is going to be and how detrimental the recovery will be. It is I think especially hard for me with my tailbone and bladder problems and that is very much in the back of my mind. How bad will my bladder be? Will my tailbone be affected this time? How many days will it take before I have bladder control? Will it strengthen back up like it should? Will the muscles recover? These are the questions in my mind. At the same time I am trying to have faith but the bladder is scary. You don’t know how scary it is to have no control of when you are going to pee or not, and just going to the bathroom from time to time to avoid an accident. My muscles down there are shot after each baby, and after each one it takes a little longer to get even a little feeling and control back. How long will it be this time before I have some control?
It’s been a long time since we’ve had a baby and Phoenix never really felt like a baby, not a newborn anyway. I couldn’t carry him around like a baby, he was so heavy and big. This boy might not be any different but it will still be great to have a new baby and another child of ours come down to us. I am excited to start counting down the time. I am 20 weeks in a week and especially after Christmas, the time is going to go by fast as we prepare to have him, move into a bigger house somewhere, and buy a bigger car, ect. It’s all going to creep up fast after the Holiday is over.
Welcome to the family Amar’e. Our family life is hard. We have to be really patient and understanding and accepting of our situation. It isn’t easy and often times rather than strengthening our relationships, it tears us apart and causes resentment and arguments. We barely function as a family and even though having more children in a lot of ways makes it even harder, we know we want to complete our family. We know there are spirits up there that are ours and we won’t let them down, we’ll get through it together in the end. We still must press on and have our children with faith, so welcome to the family boy number 3, our son, Amar’e Willard Hill.

Sorry but I had to catch up. Enjoy!

Hill Family Christmas Letter 2010

Merry Christmas to our friends and family!

The big news for us this past year was my diagnoses of Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, a birth defect resulting in underdeveloped Optic Nerves, which has caused my vision problem. With just the diagnoses we went from being lost in the dark, to now having a lighted path ahead of us. Now we just have to look and listen and navigate to find the answer to getting this fixed. We were pursuing a treatment at one point in time but have diminished the effort for multiple reasons. That was a hard decision for me to make, but with the help of loving and supportive family members, I was able to walk away and move on with my life, knowing that there probably wouldn’t be a safe and proven treatment for some years.

We did just that. We kept going. We moved forward regardless of the circumstances. We are happy to announce that we are expecting another son to join our family on May 2nd. His name will be Amar’e Willard Hill. Amar’e is pronounced Uh-mar (as in Mark)–ee. The E at the end can also have more of an A sound (as in Eggs). Sorry to confuse everybody but I hate when you read a name and have no idea how to say it. We are thrilled to have another little baby come to our home! With the new baby coming we will need to move to a bigger house, so we’ll try and get the new address out this spring.

SHARRID – Sharrid has been blessed to keep his job at the prison throughout this economic situation and has actually been working a lot of overtime recently. He serves as the Sunday School President in our ward. He has been in the Sunday School program most of our marriage! Sharrid received his associates this past year in Corrections/Criminal Justice and is getting ready to start school back up after the New Year.

LEXIE – I am primarily focused on trying to take care of baby and body through this pregnancy, while rearing the other two boys. After writing music for almost a decade, I decided it was time to move to the next level and start composing. With the help of my mom and sister Kira (and my newly acquired used piano!), it is coming along slowly but surely as we are all living in different states! My ultimate goal is to produce/record an album with my family and maybe even publish some of my music.

MARCELUS – Marcelus started Preschool this year and has a great work ethic. He is very responsible and I have to remind myself that he is not in fact older than he is. He loves to count to 100 and writes his name very well. He will be 5 in February just after our 6th wedding anniversary! He is very tall and very thin, so buying him pants is quite a task! He is obsessed with Legos and Star Wars. His favorite food is Yogurt. He loves fighting with light sabers and playing store. He also loves playing any board or card games!

PHOENIX – Phoenix is 2 ½ and is starting to talk a lot more and speak in phrases and sentences. He is still a bit more somber than Marce but has a diva hidden in him. He is our drama queen for sure! He is very tall for his age but unlike Marcelus, he is solid and we think he has sand in his bones! Phoenix loves his big brother and anything Marce loves, plus trains, Legos, cars, and milk!

Decorating the Christmas Tree!

This is our little tree. We bought it at Walmart for $30 when Marcelus was a baby. It has one little strand of lights that are shorted out and yes, it is leaning. It's kind of on it's last leg but it looks beautiful! Maybe I'll get a new one next year. If I do I will get a taller one that is not pre lit. This little tree has been great though. My mom is making us a quilted tree skirt for next year and I say that calls for a new tree! I love the way our tree is decorated. Here it is this year.

Our stockings are hung. We'll need to add another one next year and make room! The boys loved decorating the tree and tried to do it at running pace so they could do the most ornaments. We had to move and fix things a bit, but not horribly. The hoodie I am wearing I have been living in since I bought it. It is so cozy and warm. I love it. It's so festive too. I've wanted a fur lined hoodie forever and so I decided to get one that zips down this year for the pregnancy. I highly recommend a fur lined hoodie for everyone's winter wardrobe!

Phoenix

Phoenix is 2 1/2. I am so happy he will be turning 3 shortly after the baby is born. He is talking A LOT more! BUT, he is going through a rage phase. He used to be a lot more laid back. Maybe it's cause he can talk pretty good now but he has gotten a lot more outspoken and moody. He is so aggressive and will yell at the top of his lungs. He growls and tries to hit me when he's mad. I'm not loving this. The kid is now a wild animal but I hope this doesn't last too long. I am too tired and too pregnant to deal with it. Here are a few great pictures of Phoenix.

Phoenix loves to read his books and doesn't mind if they are up side down. If you try and fix it for him he will get mad.
A rarity! This is Phoenix' true smile that makes me melt. I hardly ever get to see it because he's so stone faced most the time. I was ecstatic to catch it on camera! Isn't he so much cuter when he smiles?! This picture is one of my favorites though. Classic Phoenix. This is his most popular smile lately, the no teeth smile with the finger in the mouth.

Outing

Don't mind Marcelus. He is going through an "I don't want my picture taken" phase. Sorry about the blur too. I need a new camera...
