Willard Family Band

My immidiate family has a band, we have no name. I guess you could just call us the Willards, or something...anyway, it's hard cause were all apart and spread out between Maricopa, Mesa, Vegas area, Provo...
We've performed in front of my mom's family at my Grandpa's family cabin. That was the first time and I was 20. It was the summer before I got married. We then performed again for my mom's extended family up at a family reunion for about 800 people! That was fun and we got to play 2 shows for that one. After that we decided we might as well perform for my dad's side at our annual Thanksgiving reunion. That was probably about 100-150 people.
So we've performed 4 times I guess. I called my mom yesterday to chat and she told me that it was decided that we play at the Clark County Fair (held in my hometown) next April. My dad works for the Fair and my mom helps out with one of the stages and has perormed at the Fair a lot of times on this stage. My mom and Kira are compiling the songs we'll be playing and then they'll send everybody a cd of them, and then we get started at learning our parts. My mom sings lead and plays piano/keyboard, Connie sings back up and handles all the percussion, Kira plays guitar, I play the bass, Michaela plays the drums for us.
This year it's possible Michaela could be on a mission, and if she is then we'll have Landon (my little brother) or Peter (Connie's husband) pick up the slack. My little sister Tibi might help sing back ups, and Connie will probably take a song on the bass, which will allow me to play the drum set! It's all confusing I know, but most of us play multiple instruments. I played the drums for 7 years in school and in college picked up the bass, so I've just been playing the bass for the past few years. So we might end up playing musical chairs a little. My dad always handles the sound equipment, he's our techy! ha ha
I'm excited to find out what songs we'll be doing. I'm nervous though because I'll be trying to learn them while trying to take care of 2 kids, one of which will be pretty demanding this year. I'm sure it will be a great thing and I'm excited to perform again. I love it, it's so fun. So anyone reading this from Moapa Valley, look for us next year at the Fair!
My little family isn't going to the fair this year, because I'm too pregnant, so I'm excited that we'll be going next year guaranteed! I can't wait for the food, it's my favorite part! mmmmmm Fair food.....

I can only hope we are in that part of the world come next April so we can see the talents of the whole Willard family on stage. What a treat that will be!

Awesome, but now I'm mad that I won't be there to see it. You totally need to do it at the cabin every year...just for me!!! Seriously, we need to get more creative at the cabin. I love Make-A-Million and playing games, but let's mix it up a little!
