Out Of Bed

So we've had a really difficult sleeper with Marcelus his whole life so far. He is in a toddler bed but so far has to have the door shut and cry himself to sleep, (which only takes like less than 5 min.) but still. And he does get up in the night once sometimes even twice. Once in a while he will sleep all the way through.
I have been giving him a chance at least to go to bed on his own with the door open, thinking one of these days he'll stay. We go in, say a little prayer and then turn on his night time music really soft, I tuck him and his "doggie" in a kiss him and then I leave a crack the door (he has a night light). Every night he saunters out pretty much right after I leave. I put him back and give him one or two more chances before I end up shutting the door. Sometimes when he comes out he hides behind the way in the hall and just stands there for a while. I am perfectly aware of his every move of course. Sometimes he gradually walks out, slowly, ...
Well, this particular night, I put him in bed and went back to what I was doing on the comp. prob. blogging. I hear him out of his room, I hear him just basically outside my door in the family room. I'm waiting, waiting for him to make himself known. He never does, while I'm busy blogging, he must have been too afraid or something to come in and show me he was out of bed or, he just doesn't like being in his room alone and figured I was close enough. Either way, after I was done I walked out because I hadn't heard his little footsteps or noises anymore and he had come out with his little doggie and fell asleep so precious like on the couch. As much as I feel completely helpless and that I'm pretty much at the end of my rope with this situation, it was adorable...

Matthew has been doing this a lot lately too. Sometimes he'll come out of bed two to three times, before he finally stays, or just cries himself to sleep. Roy and I usually have to turn off all the lights and hide out in our room till he does!

How sweet. It's a good thing the cute times outweigh the frustrating times. I hope he likes his little brother as much as he likes that doggie!
