Playing With Christmas

Between batteries needed and dad not having enough time off work, we haven't even opened some of the boys Christmas toys, mainly the Easy Bake Oven and the Hot Wheels sets. I'll get some pictures of that stuff when we get to it but here are the boys playing with some of the things we have opened.

Sharrid built the Lego X Wing Fighter the first time while Marcelus built all the mini-figures that came with it. He loves the mini-figures so much! He has pretty much all of the main Star Wars mini-figures now except for C-3PO. Marce destroyed the X Wing Fighter a few days after it was built so I guess he'll have to rebuild it himself next time.
Marcelus loves his new slippers from Kira. Phoenix on the other hand...maybe he's afraid of them ha ha, either way, he's going to have to warm up to them a bit more. Marcelus hard at work creating the Darth Vader Tie Fighter on his new Lite Brite. I eventually let him do it himself. It was so hard for me to see the letters on the black page and tell the little colored pieces apart. It's pretty sad when you have to ask your 4 year old to read you something or find the right color peg cause you can't. He helps me a lot like that. He is just starting to understand that mommies eyes are bad and don't work good. Marce did great. The only thing he kept asking me is what the V means...Violet, cause P stands for Pink. He didn't know that Violet was another name for Purple.
Marcelus has been working on building his Harry Potter Hogwarts castle. Here he has built only one out of 4 pieces. As of now we only have one more piece of the castle to build! I sat by and watched Marce build it, trying to make sure he did the instructions right (it's way above his age level and it's more complicated than his little Star Wars ships). There are 3 full page booklets for this set and inside the box is numbered bags. In the instructions it tells you when to open the next bag and so forth. He did really well and wanted to get to all the bags and build for hours but we have been taking it in steps. Marce had me help a bit and I got hooked! Now I am sad when I can't be there to help him. One time I had to do the dishes while I watched him do it. The castle has been really fun to build and I LOVE doing it with him. It's a lot of quality time doing something we both like. I don't think I would like to build a ship as much. I think I like it cause it's a building, architecture. It's like when women just love little things like doll houses. It has little goblets and food plates in the great hall on the tables and stuff. All the little details are great! I can't wait to post pictures of the finished castle! Marcelus built all the Harry Potter mini-figures first of course. He has a lot of the main characters. He doesn't have Ron or Draco though. Here he is getting started with the first bag/booklet.

It's so fun to watch kids learn and understand stuff like that! I'm always amazed at all the little things I see Kinsie learning to accomplish for the first time.

I can't wait to see the finished castle either! I bet it's amazing.

Yeah and the Lite Brite is super cheap too! It would be great for your kids too because it is 4 sided so you can have multiple kids working on the sides!

That kid is pretty smart! I love the pictures of him concentrating so hard on the Lite Bright. And he gets "sticking his tongue out when he's thinking" from ME!!
