CA Road Trip, part 5 - Carlsbad Candids

Silent Partner Make A Million...Oh yeah! With Scott, Grandpa, Me, Garth, Jamie, Chris, Danny, and Jackie. It was a blast!
Trains (U.S. version) with Kathy, Jack, Sharrid, Lisa, and Grandma.
Sleeping in Grandma's big spare room.
Of course Marcelus found Grandma's Vacuum. It was a struggle to keep him away from it all week! Sharrid finally let him vacuum the room we were staying in. They also had a big carpet cleaner in the pantry, but I was surprised that Marcelus wasn't trying to get to it as bad.

Grandpa & Grandma's house. While I was talking to Shar on the way home about Carlsbad...even more....he told me he felt their were sentinels guarding Grandpa and Grandma's house. There was such a peaceful kind of spirit there he said.

Lisa's new house is adorable, and she just loved holding Phoenix any chance she got.
Friday night we went to Hometown Buffet with Scott & Yvette, Lisa, Jeff, and G&G. We went to celebrate Lisa's birthday which is on the 15th. After that we headed over to her house to see it for the first time.
Jeff and Shar helped Grandpa one of the days make a ton of homemade grape juice from the grapes in their garden. Grandpa fed us a big breakfast every morning. On Sunday Lisa opened a few presents from Theresa and I. It worked out great that it was her birthday when we came. Throughout the week I interviewed Grandpa and Grandma both. I hope the sound turned out well. It was very candid at times. I'll be working on getting those onto DVD for the family. I talked to Grandpa on camera and off camera about doing his personal history for us. He's going to start working on it and I can't wait for it. He has so many stories. He's done so much in life, and no time outshines any other. Every phase of his life is extraordinary. He's brilliant to sit and talk with. It was something I'll never forget, and I hope I can hear him tell many more stories. He's a great story teller I came to know. I learned a lot about Grandpa by just doing one interview, things I hadn't really thought about. He's super confident. He's not self deprecating at all. He gives credit where it's due. He's just as respectable as he is respected. He's a genius...what can I say more, it was amazing. There's so much to learn from him.
I guess I wasn't super great with the camera because I didn't get any pictures of the following:
  • Making the grape juice
  • Hometown Buffet
  • The outside of Lisa's house
  • The Monroe house
  • Lisa opening her birthday presents
  • Grandpa & Grandma! and it would have especially been nice to get pictures of them with our little family. That was a big mistake on my part.

Hopefully we'll get to go back soon enough. You can only take so many road trips and there's so many ways we feel pulled,..but soon we'll be back.

Very funny about grandma's vacuum! I think Marce can sniff those things out! I love mom and dad's house too. There's just something about Carlsbad.
