I watched the second disc of the Larry King footage I've been getting through Netflix. There are 3 DVD's in all. The first one if you remember was of actresses/actors, musicians, tv people, ect. I remember really liking James Earl Jones. He was so happy and giggly...like a little boy really. He was so giddy. He seemed very grateful and happy.
This 2nd DVD I watched was the Presidents of the US and the First Ladies, along with Larry covering some of the biggest news stories of his career including 9/11, JFK Jr's death, Princess Diana's death, hurricane Katrina, ect. I LOVED the Presidents and First Ladies interviews segments. It was especially great for me because I had just returned home from interviewing my grandpa who worked and at very least knew these men personally. For those of you reading my blog who don't know my grandpa, he served as a Congressmen for 18 years. Before that he was the Mayor of Carlsbad, served on City Counsel, and even before that served on the School Board. He's been retired for about 8 years now. At any rate, grandpa and I talked a lot about the routes he had taken in his life and working with the Presidents and such. He told me about Ronald Reagan (the first Pres. he worked with). Grandpa loves Reagan I already knew this of course because of all the pictures of them working together around his house. Grandpa has many pictures of working with other people of the same nature, but the big ones are all with Ronald Reagan, and he's in more of them than any other person probably. It was great to hear grandpa talk about Reagan though. He has a special respect and love for him. The interviews of Reagan and Nancy were just icing on the cake I guess. The two combined makes me want to know Reagan better. What an interesting life and person. In the interviews he seemed like the most genuine person you'd ever come in contact with. A true, good, and loving person. I can't wait to learn more about him. I had no idea that he was shot and could have been killed. I did know that he died about 4 years ago. He had alzheimers. I didn't know he had hearing loss in one ear due to a shooting scene of one of his movies. He might just become one of my favorite people. Still now, all I can think of is "genuine"....
Then there was George Bush senior and Barbera. She always seemed on the brink of death to me. I think it was the hair. Maybe she was just prematurely white because she is a firecracker! She's pretty spunky. Bush sr. was the Pres. when I was a kid. He seems like such a nice guy in the interviews and I know grandpa liked him very much as well. George Bush jr. I know I like myself. I also really like Laura. Their interviews were great to see. Regardless of who the new President is this year, I will miss George Bush and Laura. He was pres. through a heck of a lot of difficulty, that's for sure. Clinton and Hillary were also on there as well as Jimmy Carter (who by the way talks like the biggest hick I'll ever know!) Nixon, and Gerald Ford. Pres. Ford played football in college and was wanted by the Greenbay Packers, and the Detroit Lions. He decided instead to take a assistant coaching job and continue with school, law school. Smart guy.
All of the news stuff was pretty depressing. I was sad by the end of the DVD. That's one of many reasons I don't watch the news. I wonder what the last DVD will bring.

That might be worth getting Netflix again. I would love to see all of the DVD's from Larry King. It's got to be a heck of a lot of watching though. 'Very cool.
The DVD's are long, a few hours I'd say each one is but there are only 3. It doesn't have full interviews on it, just snippets of a lot of interviews. It's easy to get Netflix again if you want to. You should take a look at my list of movies in my Netflix to get some ideas of great "footage" to get, not just movies. They have those Biographies you love to get at the library, all kinds of sports footage for dad and lan, tv series if you want and then footage like this also. There's way too much to make a dent in it but that's why Netflix is so great cause I get unlimited. I think you would really love the kind of stuff I Netflix.
I love watching a good documentary. I've watched some interviews too. I guess I just love learning about history, but I also love watching current events of Fox News Channel.
