Family Update

Being pregnant, I can't say I'm super motivated right now. I have been doing what's necessary. That's basically it. I take a nap nearly everyday, and the rest of the day I lounge around. I am lucky to get a couple chores done and dinner. I don't feel bad at all. I have been feeling sickly off and on and have been worn out most all the time. I know that I'll start to feel more energetic as I get into my second trimester, which is when I'm going to start walking a mile or so a day on the treadmill. The pregnancy is going well I guess. Not much to say about it. I have an ultrasound in a couple weeks to check on those bleeds I had but I have not bled or spotted at all so the doctor said they probably cleared up on their own. It'll be good to have the ultrasound anyway just to make sure everything is okay. I'm 10 weeks on Monday.

They opened up overtime at Sharrid's work and we can hardly believe it. We know they've been under staffed but we also know that our check has dropped from month to month pretty consistently. As long as they have it available, Shar is taking advantage of it. The thing about it is they don't just give you a few hours here and there tacked on to your shift. You have to work a whole shift if you want to work overtime. So with Sharrid working Swing shift (2-10, he is actually gone from 12-11pm) He now stays on all night and comes home in the early morning around 7 or so. With graveyard he can sleep a little but not much. He comes home and sleeps a few hours and gets up for his regular shift again. He's trying to average 3 days a week of overtime. So far so good. With it being a full shift and time and half pay, it should be good money. Anybody could use extra money but with a baby coming, that annoying newlywed debt everyone seems to acquire, an upgrade from our small apartment this spring, and the need for a bigger car, it's definitely a blessing for us. We feel a lot on our plate right now and a lot of big changes the next couple years for us. We're doing just fine though and we're happy with where we're at given circumstances and where we're going.

Marcelus has ups and downs. Sometimes he doesn't mind at all, but he helps me out a lot. He does not like to clean up unless mommy helps. I usually don't mind this (since Phoenix is pretty bad with clean up) but I end up being the most productive! Right now I'm trying extra hard not to let Marce slide because I don't have the energy to argue with him or discipline him. Marcelus is in school 3 days a week and loves it. He's learning a lot and will be ready for Kindergarten this year. He loves his teacher and his classmates. His teacher has nothing but praise for us everyday. Marce likes to play Nick Jr. games on the computer. He loves to help with dinner just about every night. He's going to be a great cook and baker. He sees both mom and dad cook (In our house Shar does breakfast and I do dinner) so I think he has a lot of influence. At any rate, he loves to help in the kitchen and even though I don't like to cook and I'm slightly annoyed sometimes, I let him whenever he asks. I can tell he really likes it. Marce also loves to play Uno with me and I encourage this as well. I grew up playing games with family, especially card games and I want him to be a fluent card player too. He's really good at Uno and loves to win! He has gotten over the fact that he doesn't always win :) He used to cry but now he acts normal. He will play Uno with me until I've played about 5-10 hands...and then he will play with himself! He will skip himself and lay draw 2's on himself. It's funny to listen too. Then he'll come back after I've had a break and we'll play a few more hands. ha ha Marce and Phoenix listen to the soundtrack of Follow That Bird EVERY night while they fall asleep. Marcelus' favorite food is by far Yogurt. He can't eat a ton right when he wakes up so before school he has a yogurt for breakfast. It's nice and easy for mom and dad and he loves it! Marce loves Popsicles too and he would eat the whole box in one setting if he could! Marce is into Star Wars right now. He watched the first one twice today and always asks me questions about the characters. He loves the light sabers! I'll have to get the other movies for him. He's also into robots and always builds robot cities and space ships with his toys. He's a big time nerd I guess but I think it's really cute. He will come up to me while I'm watching a game and ask me who got the ball. When he asks me about sports I get excited but he likes other stuff right now too. We're going to take him out as it cools down and throw the football around and pitch the baseball and stuff. He always races around in our apartment and says that because he is fast he will play basketball. ha ha I think he's turning into a pretty well rounded kid! Marce understands we're having a baby and understands it takes a long time. I can't wait til I can help him feel the baby kick and when we can call it by name after the big ultrasound. He wants a girl so bad. I'm crossing my fingers!

Phoenix is terribly two! Only now when he throws an attitude around he can really communicate what he wants or doesn't want. Today after I inquired about his poopy diaper, he told me flat out that he did not want to be changed. Of course he lied about being poopy. He's starting to talk a lot better but it still takes some patience to understand. Phoenix does this thing when you say something he doesn't like. He grunts a couple times rhythmically, then says no to the same beat, then does a farting/spitting noise with his mouth. All of it rhythmically with little rests in between, it's so funny! Phoenix loves Marce and they are really close. He basically does everything Marcelus does. He doesn't know that I'm having a baby but he'll be a month shy of 3 when I deliver. I think he'll love it.

I have been enjoying Biggest Loser, Project Runway, and College Football lately. I'm excited about the fall and winter seasons coming and the Holidays that go with. Halloween will be fun for the kids and I love the candy, chili and cornbread! I'm going to my parents for fall break with the kids. I'll be working on finishing up my newest song "Addiction By Accident". If all goes well, we'll finish it up. I need to add strings and back ups but it's a simple song with kind of a Jar Of Hearts feel musically. After that I have to get started on a song called "Falling In Line". It's completely different from 'Addiction' with more of an electronic feel. The kind of approach I got from this song is robotic, electronic, and android themed. It works perfectly with the lyrics and the title "Falling In Line". I didn't do that on purpose but I love the song writing gifts that just come like that.

Well that's my update of us right now. Until next time-

Love the update. We should play cards with the kids more. Next time we get together, let's play Uno!

Yeah we should. We got to get them started. And now that I think about it, the reason we as kids were so much quieter when we got together was because we were playing games! Our kids need to start to learn so they can be good game players but also so we can get a little peace while were trying to play our games! If we start them out, it won't be long before they are playing by themselves!

Have you seen that piece of footage of Chris P. and Debbie and a couple other kids playing Make a Million in their motorhome on a road trip? They look like they are 5 years old!! We got to start teaching our kids the games!

Yeah, true. Peter and I were impressed that the kids at least are initiating some games- like ring around the rosy and duck, duck, goose the other night. That was too cute!
