Poetry Post

This is actually not a poem, but the lyrics to a song, one of the songs I've written. I wrote it in early 2004 when I was going to college which is when I wrote the majority of all my songs and poems.

Knowledge Is All You Take

Education is underrated
The quick fixes are overtaking
But before you make a big mistake
Let me just shout out and say
Knowledge is all you take

Knowledge is all you take
Knowledge cannot be fake
You either know it or you don't
You'll either learn it or you won't
But knowledge is all you take

I once said I hate learning
Books were made for burning
But I didn't know it could be this way
And now I try to learn something new everyday
Cause knowledge is all you take

In High School I was faking
The classes I was taking
I didn't ever pull off the grades
And now I think goodness sakes
Knowledge is all you take

I don't know how to say it
But the drums - man, I can play it
I played for games and other events
And now I've been playing ever since
Knowledge is all you take

I took out the time to know
The seventh born of Joe
I learn so much from him everyday
So much that I will never be able to repay
Knowledge is all you take

I love the dark raced skin
Their legacy's always been
I feel it deep inside of me
Without knowledge of them I would not be me
Knowledge is all you take

Information by the pagefuls
The books in there are not sold
Gives you books for free to read
You can check them out down the street
Knowledge is all you take

I've learned to live my love
It came from up above
The reason I am here is deep in me
Music has brought me down to my knees
Knowledge is all you take
