This poem I came across actually in Relief Society during the practice hymn part in my first ward after being married. The poem is by Fannie Crosby who was born in New York in 1820. She died in 1915 at age 95. She was blind at age 6 and wrote this poem at age 9. She wrote over 5000 songs including the Hymn "Behold The Royal Army". She wrote the lyrics for this Hymn, and a man named Adam Gelbel wrote the music for it, he was also blind. She wrote her first Hymn at age 44.
Here is the poem and it's one of my favorites.
Oh what a happy soul am I!
Although I cannot see
I am resolved that in this world
Contented I will be
How many blessings I enjoy
That other people don't
To weep and sigh because I'm blind
I cannot and I won't
