Phoenix' 12 Month Wellness

Okay guys, first of all I just want to say regarding Marcelus and my picking out the clothes issue that I have no problem letting him pick out his own clothes. He is growing up and is doing all the great things that a 3 year old does. Yes, it would bother me if he didn't match and I would make him change but most days around here in the summer time he doesn't even wear clothes, it's so hot! When he does, he can pick them out as long as they match. I do have a problem with him leaving certain clothes in the drawer and never picking them and never wearing them. That's a waste to me. I don't mind him picking his own, but I want him to rotate them so they all get worn at least. We'll see how it goes. I can bribe him with a sucker to wear the clothes that he never picks once in a while, then we both are happy. He has a sucker for that day...and I don't feel like his clothes are being wasted. At least I still get to shop for the clothes. That's funner than picking his outfit out anyway.

Now, today Phoenix had his 12 month wellness with a doctor we've been seeing lately at our office, Dr. Jafri. She is awesome! I'm not sure exactly what Nationality she is but there are a lot of really good doctors (in all fields) that are not originally from our country. She is really energetic and candid. Phoenix had to get shots in both arms today and a prick in the finger to check Hemoglobin which was perfect. He barely cried with the shots and then knocked out on the way home.

I talked to the doctor about his development which seems to be great. She asked about his speech, motor skills, mobility, and understanding. I told her he's starting to try and say some words that only I can understand probably. His mobility is well above average. He's done everything early in that category and was climbing onto the kitchen table before he was even 12 months! I told her that I know he understands everything because of his attitude. Yes, he already has a pretty big attitude. His percentages are as follows: Head-69% Weight-22% Height-98%. She said he was very tall for his age, thanks to daddy. I was surprised to see his head go down from the 90's to the 69%! It still seems like his head is so huge!

We also talked about his diet and that I've completely weened him but that he still isn't drinking a lot of milk. She told me it was fine because he eats a Yoplait yogurt everyday, sometimes more than one. She said I could try and add Carnation Instant Breakfast to his milk and that kids usually liked that and it had good calories in it that could help with the low milk intake. She was not worried about his weight though because of what I told her of his diet. He eats all the time and begs for everything! He's the biggest moocher even when he's already had his own. For breakfast for instance, Phoenix eats an egg, a piece of bacon, and some bites of oatmeal, that's after he's already eaten some cereal or a yogurt earlier. Dr. Jafri was impressed that he liked eggs but I told her he will eat anything! He does eat a lot for just 12 months and Marce is starting to eat more too. Marcelus' chest is getting a lot bigger right now. I can literally see that it's growing every day. Also his thighs (I know this cause I rub his feet and legs every night before bed). I feel like we're being eaten out of house and home with these two. Sometimes Marce asks for so many snacks late in the day, I wonder if he does it just for attention.

Anyway that was the appointment. Yay for Phoenix! We'll see the doctor again late in August for 15 month wellness and some more shots.

Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince

You Tube would not let me embed a trailer of the movie into my blog but I wanted to put the official site for Harry Potter 6 on here and you can go to it and turn your speakers on cause automatically the 3 trailers will come on. I had seen one before but from the three, and with the date coming closer next month I watched them through about three times and started to get that burning in your nose when you're about to cry. I clicked out of it but let me tell you, these books mean the world to me. They are what made me a reader, and reading has made me so happy. They have so much symbolism and deep concepts. They are based on good vs. evil. They are filled with the deepest relationships. They are stories of fiction and fantasy but the books are so relatable and they have strong meaning in life lessons. You can learn from them easily. They certainly are special to me. I love that they've made movies from them and have loved the quality of the cast and production.

Harry Potter 6 is one of the best books in the series as far as concept and story and information goes. If you have not read the book or the series I HIGHLY recommend it before trying to understand the movie. I am re-reading the book now just in time for the movie to come into theatres. I CANNOT wait!

My Treat

In lieu of So You Think You Can Dance I thought I would post one of my very very favorite dances from my very favorite season, with my very favorite dancer from the show, Danny. I wish the quality of the video was a bit better but that's life. Every time I hear this song I ALWAYS think of this dance!

I have not been watching the auditions because I don't like to come into it with any favorites or opinions. I don't like to be swayed by anything the judges say or any profile stories they do before the show actually starts. That's just me. I just like to start watching with the actual show and start forming opinions then when they really start to compete. I don't know if I'll get to watch most of this season because I'll be out of town and busy at my parents, but in the summer THIS SHOW IS THE BEST!!!

Bath & Nap

It is 5:15. Marcelus is still sleeping. He fell asleep about 1:00. He has done this now the last 3 days. Swimming lessons is wearing him out I guess cause he never naps. Some days after swim we're able to walk down to the complex pool and I teach him myself and I know that really tuckers him out too. I make him work harder than his swim teacher and he's finally starting to make progress with his paddling! He did much better after today. I bathed the boys after Marce and I swam so that also soothed him to sleep. It's crazy though, in a few hours he'll go back down to bed! Poor Phoenix is out of a play date and is cranky all the time lately anyway.....probably because after we all got better from being sick, I cut the cord and we are no longer breastfeeding AT ALL! Oh the freedom after 12 long months! Finally back to working out again also after taking care of all our sickness, so that's good too. Marcelus' last day of swim lessons is tomorrow and then Phoenix has his 12 month wellness on Friday morning. Saturday we are going to my niece Eden's birthday get together and then Sunday I'll be packing like mad. I'm going home for a whole month! Part of that will be spent at our family cabin in Utah.

Today

One thing that Marce is doing lately is throwing a stink when I pick out his clothes. He wants to take away the fun part of parenting and choose himself. This is not cool. I love to pick out their outfits! Sometimes I can trick him in to not noticing that I picked it out when I already have it ready. Either way I could bribe him to go my way. I wouldn't mind it at all but I got him some new shirts and he hasn't even worn them because he never picks them. When I hold it up and ask him, he is clear that he doesn't want to wear it. Frustrating.
Reading Harry Potter 6 again to gear up for the movie coming next month! It's so good! Afterwards I plan to read the 7th again cause I forgot everything.

Canoe Race

Last night I dreamt that my immediate family, meaning only my parents and siblings went to a big lake to do a family canoe race. It was one of those things were it was all set up and you payed a flat payment to do the races. There was a starting line with a ranch style thing that rose out of the water like what used to be at my parents house over the starting line with a big sign that read START. Off in the distance were little white balls where you turned around and canoed back for the win. We were all pretty excited. There were 4 canoes and everybody had a partner, a person to sit in the back and paddle hard and a person to sit in front and do the steering, just like girls camp. I found out that Kira was to be my partner. I was happy about that and was sure we were going to win. Kira was strong and both of us hated to lose. Kira wins everything, I was sure we would win. Dad and Mom were paired up, Connie and Michaela, and Tibi with Landon. I wasn't really worried about mom and dad, they'd be too slow. I wasn't worried about the babies either, they seemed kind of out of the loop and apathetic. Connie and Michaela were the biggest threats. Kira was late to the whole race, figures...and when she finally showed up I was sitting in the back of the canoe. I'm way strong but Kira's probably just as strong so I told her "well the heavier person is supposed to be the back person". She gave kind of a Lorie face smirk and so I was the steering person in the front. There was an instructor person of course giving us the rules and running the whole thing. The thing was, is there were dangerous animals and stuff in the lake. There were sharks and big fish and we just tried to not be in the water very long. The instructor told us to watch our heads and be on the lookout for big birds who would swoop down and peck at our heads and stuff. Apparently the lake was a hot spot for hunting and feeding and stuff and food was scarce elsewhere. Great. Seriously. Luckily our heads were not mistaken for food but I did see a shark under the water. The race started and all I know is that we were in the lead. We passed the little white balls and were making a good turn heading back when Connie and Michaela were starting to make their turn, the others still on their way to the white balls....who will come away with the win? We will never know, because that's just when I woke up. Kira and I were so going to win the race, so I'm pretty sure we can just assume us winners. The whole thing was very Swiss Family Robinson. Very cool.

The Man's Tea Party

I had to get pictures of this! My boys gathered around the table with dad eating fruit by the mouthfuls. It was so cute. We love fruit in our house and this past weekend Shar bought a watermelon and a cantaloupe. I don't like melons but Shar had no trouble finishing off both! The boys loved it and they also love bananas, apples, and oranges. Now I need to buy some grapes and strawberries!

Phoenix is so funny. He never stops eating. I was telling Sharrid and he said he's a boy after his own heart. I told him I think we might be right about him being our big one. Phoenix has thinned out just like Marce did but I still think he'll be a bit thicker. He's got a thicker chest and also a huge bottom! Of course he still has his big dimpled cheeks. His head is huge and last time it was in the 90's percentage wise! We call him bowling ball sometimes. We don't know how he carries that huge melon on his shoulders. It'll be interesting to see what his percentages are this week for 12 months wellness. He does eat a lot though that's for sure.

These pictures were taken when Marce was sick. One minute he was sitting on this box waiting to go to the store and when we were ready to walk out the door, we found this. It was cute. One of those "awe" moments.

Happy June

I'm super excited about something right now but I can't blog about it cause it's what I got for my parents Mothers/Fathers day gift. I got myself the same thing and it's super cool. They're going to love it and I hope they haven't bought themselves one recently. I will blog about it after I've given theirs to them.

After a little bit of being tossed around and referrals and records and this and that, I made 2 appointments with the doctor I'm supposed to see in Phoenix. His name is Dr. Thomas Wolf and he's a Neuro Opthamologist Specialist. The appointments are in mid July in the same week after I get back from being out of town. I'm happy that we are progressing though and that we'll be getting the ball rolling soon. The first appointment is a Visual Field Test. The second appointment I will see Dr. Wolf and he will do a full exam and we can talk about everything and stuff. I better get caught up on my Video Diary before the appointments! I've started it but there's a lot to be said on there from the last 25 years!
