Recommendations

We have been married for over 4 years now, which means that all of our knives as a married couple are at least that old. They were never great to begin with. We got a fairly cheap set at Target with our wedding money. It is getting to the point where using them is becoming dangerous because they are so dull. We need to replace them and had the idea that we'd buy individual knives one at a time, rather than a whole set at once. We do not know which brands are good and which ones are the same crap we started out with. We see infomercials on TV sometimes and have purchased other great products off of the TV but aren't sure what we should do about knives. We really only need a few good knives mainly for cutting veggies, and for dinner time use. If any of you have any good recommendations for knives, please comment below. It would be good to include the brand and the place to buy it. Thanks!

I know that you said that you want to buy them individually, but I got mine from Costco and love them. Their J.A. Henckels and having a knife block to put your knives in is so convenient. Their not the best knives out there, but they are a good quality knife set and a decent price for waht you get ($179).

I don't have any reccomendations because mine are awful too. I just had to say that I found it amusing to pull up your blog and see a picture of a knife.

My parents bought me and Kevin the knives that we have at a home show event. We have had the knives for 5- 6 years and they are still super sharp. I love them. I had to ask my Mom what brand they are since it doesn't say it on the knife. She said they were ginsu knives. I guess there are different kinds of ginsu knives you can buy. Here is a site:

The site has a 36 piece stainless steel knife set for $30. That is not the set that I got. I couldn't find any knives to match the ones that I have. But mine are over 5 years old, so that could be why.
Both this site an target sell a knife set with a space saving block.

Here is a link for target.

Also, Kevin says that Cutco knives are good.

I hope this info helps. Good Luck!
