Day 9: A song that breaks your heart...and my picks are...
I grew up on a lot of stuff but I REALLY grew up on The Carpenters because my mom is one of their best fans ever! I LOVE Richard's album Time. It was released after Karen died in the late 80's and it's brilliant. I love this song and his perfect vocals and I love how much echo he uses and everything about it. The Carpenters are unbelievable talented artists. This clip had bad sound and picture quality but there wasn't much to choose from. Good luck finding this album too. It's out of print. I had to look on Ebay or Amazon or something and if I can remember, it wasn't really cheap...
How good is he live, huh? Awesome! What a cutie too! I love Jon Secada! I love to hear him in Spanish almost as much as I do in English, it's cool.
"Fooling Myself" by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals was a pick of mine but there are no good clips. Check out the song on iTunes though, it's really beautiful.
I also could pick "Blackout" by Muse.

30 Day Song Challenge
Day 8: A song from a band that you wish you were in...and my picks are...SO EASY!
Of course there are other bands I would gladly accept an invitation into, but the obvious came to mind very fast. HEART. I grew up on heart. They are a totally rockin' 80's band that has pure killer talent at the core. Ann and Nancy sure do rock whether they are plugged or accoustic. Their talent blows my mind and they are one of THE best live bands I've ever seen. They sound just like the record or better. I am posting two awesome songs by Heart because my other pick, The Cranberries didn't really have any good clips. But my other pick would be "Everything I said", one of my very favorite Cranberries songs.
This clip is a live performance of one of the best written songs ever, "Alone". The second clip is a favorite as well, "What About Love".

30 Day Song Challenge
Day 7: A song no one else you know likes, but you...and my picks are...
For those of you who were in High School or College when this came out, I could understand how you might not like this song but I was born in 83 so...anyway, these guys still sound good live which is way cool. I have a remix of this song that I really like.
I looked through a few clips for this one and every time, it shows the audience, choir members, ect singing along. Most of them look annoyed or bored stiff. Peter, Paul, and Mary seem so happy...and so am I! I love this song, always have. I don't really believe in the whole Puff as in drugs theme that everybody gets such a kick out of. The song is a story, a poetic story. It's a really well written song actually, and even if it had those themes, who cares that much anyway? I don't really see the symbolism in it except for the word "Puff"...at any rate I love to sing this song. We sing it at family reunions sometimes. I will say Mary is crazy! She wears really ugly clothes. I observed this as I watched the clips. They seem to get worse as she gets older.
I don't know if people like this song or not but I picked it for this category because it is quite possible they don't with how big Ricky Martin was. This is a pretty song though. I will always like this song.

30 Day Song Challenge
Day 6: A song from your favorite album.
Now let's be honest, I don't have one favorite album. Do you? seriously. In this day and age with iTunes, iPods, and everything to that nature, bands and artists don't usually put out a quality album. They put out songs. It's all about songs now, but how many current artists have compiled 10 really good or even great songs and sold them on an album at the same time? It's like they only have so many good songs to give so they put a couple on this album and a couple on that album and the rest of the album is mediocre at best.
Now like I said I don't have a favorite album BUT I do have a favorite current band, Muse. And their album The Resistance has become one of my all time favorite ALBUMS. It is a complete album where I believe any of the songs could stand alone. An album should make it hard to pick a favorite or a stand out and that's what this album does. This is a true complete album and is one of my very favorites. It's almost unheard of these days for an ALBUM to be what it's supposed to, so I have to say Muse wins this Day 6 all the way!
Thankfully we don't have to buy our music by the album anymore because plenty of awesome bands and artists have killer songs that are on mediocre albums and that's okay because again, we can just buy the song individually now. But this Day was about the art of an album, which I love.

30 Day Song Challenge
Day 5: A song that makes you cry...and my picks are...
By the way, these are songs that CAN make me cry. It doesn't nessesarily mean I cry every time I hear them, but if I were an actress and needed to cry for a scene, I could use these songs and cry without a problem.
Goodbye, Spice Girls.
I don't really understand this video but I just think this is a really pretty song all the way around. I love the Spice Girls and regret them breaking up. I didn't realize I liked them so much until they were pretty much split. They have some really great songs and their voices just melt together. They can build a wall of sound like the gates of heaven are opening...much like the background vocals in this song. The sound they create in their ballads can make me cry easily. I could have also chosen their song, Viva Forever.
This song is one of my favorites, like top 3 of Annie Lennox and if you know me, you know I'm a HUGE fan of hers. I have all of her albums...every last one. This song speaks to me so much. As a song writer, there's always those songs you hear and you think...Wow that's on the tip of my tongue, i could have written this song. You just "get it" so easily. This is one of those songs for me. It was already so familiar to me. I love the lyrics in the versus, especially the 2nd verse. It makes me think of so much. This song can make me cry real easy.
There are a lot of songs I could have chosen for this one because anything can make me cry. It doesn't have to be thought provoking or sad. I cry when something is really exciting to me too, like on a really good solo that blows my mind. I can also cry if the song is nastalgic to me, just a song I grew up on. It doesn't have to be emotional or have any of those qualities. I'd say that songs that remind me of people or siruations and songs that are really exciting or make me shake my head in amazement at the music or talent will most likely do it. I vetoed any movie song choices because those are so much easier to choose. It's easy to cry watching a movie, especially if there's a song. For instance, I could have made ALL my choices from musicals (like "Friendly Star" in Summer Stcok) but again, that's too easy.
What kind of songs make you cry?
Honorable mention: The Wizard and I, Wicked. If We Hold On Together, Diana Ross. Lost, Michael Buble. Better in Time, Leona Lewis. Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer, Stevie Wonder.

A Quick Note
I have some blogging to do but Sharrid needs to teach me how to upload pics with my new camera and it has been a little crazy around here. Amar'e had his blessing this past Sunday. My parents came down with Tib and Lan and we were going to go swimming on Saturday but Connie's kids were sick so we all just got together over at her house. Jonah and Eden continued to have Flu problems and Eden ended up throwing up on Sunday on the way over to the blessing. Poor Connie had to clean her, the car seat, and the car and missed the whole blessing altogether. We met up with them afterwards at our house for a big roast dinner and sent mom and dad on their way. It was a really quick trip (I HATE those!). I'm just glad they got to see and spend time with Amar'e while he's still a little baby. Needless to say Marcelus threw up twice on Monday morning and has the runs as well. So far the rest of us steer clear of anything. Luckily Shar is working 3 days of overtime this week and we're stuck here anyway until my 6 week appointment on Friday.
We really don't have much we're doing this summer. Sharrid is just going to work really hard so we can buy a bigger car. The boys and I will spend a week in Logandale at my parents probably in July. We are going to take the boys to the Phoenix Children's Museum and also to see Cars 2 and Marcelus will have swim lessons in July most likely but it's a pretty easy going summer.
I will get the pictures on the blog as soon as I can, including the pictures from the blessing weekend and Marcelus' teeth (He lost the other bottom tooth the next morning). I also will continue with the 30 Day Song Challenge but with the family here this weekend and the sick kids, it was not going to happen. So, more blogging to come!

30 Day Song Challenge
Day 4: a song that you know all the lyrics to...and my picks are...
I know the lyrics to a whole lot of songs but I picked this one because not many people know what the heck this song is about and what he's saying, once you do...you end up liking the song a lot more, they are GREAT lyrics! There is no music video for this song, so I chose this performance. I own this concert and the entire thing is amazing.
I grew up on Wham! and I'm a huge George Michael fan. He's one of my very favorite vocalists. This is my favorite Wham! song (it's tough to choose right?!) and I know all the words so there you go...
